This borough has always been my home and I'm proud of what we've achieved here together but I know I can do so much more as your voice in Parliament.

WHY I'M RUNNING

For me, it’s always been about community.

This borough has always been my home, and I’m proud to have raised my family here. I never planned to be in politics but I couldn’t sit by whilst our community fell to the far right.

If you want to make progress, you have to roll up your sleeves and fight for it yourself. So I worked full-time on the campaign to fend off Nick Griffin. We knocked on thousands of doors and instead of telling people what to think, we listened and won people back.

Together, we’ve built 2,000 council-built homes (the most in London), secured 5,000 higher education places (57% of them women) through Coventry University London, unlocked £4 billion of investment into our local economy through London’s biggest film studios and the 3 Markets of London, and created London’s first youth zone. During Covid-19, our Citizen’s Alliance Network supported 30,000 people.

I’m proud of our record but I know I can do much more as your voice in Parliament. We need a champion who shares our values, will always be in our community’s corner and takes on injustice.

I have a proven track record of building homes, raising aspirations, unlocking opportunities, and winning elections. As a community, we’ve got some tough fights coming up. I’m standing to be your Labour MP to ensure we win those fights and get what we deserve.

Massive congratulations to my brother, Cllr Moin Quadri, on his election as Mayor of the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham. I wish him all the best and best wishes for his success as he prepares to take up the responsabilities and challenges of his office.

With more than a million Palestinian civilians sheltering in Rafah, an Israeli offensive must not go ahead.

There must be an immediate ceasefire, the immediate release of all hostages, and unimpeded aid into Gaza that can be delivered regularly, quickly and safely.

The election victories in the last few days have given Labour a sense of belief that we haven’t had for some time.

And we will keep working to earn people’s trust between now and the general election. From ⁦@bbclaurak⁩ this morning

congrats to our incredible @unmeshdesai - 70k majority, more than well deserved!!! nobody ever compares, thank you for everything you do for us and Dagenham! I am a v proud and happy agent, councillor and constituent today ❤️ #LabourHold 🌹🌹

"Only this Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, sat in No 10, looking at NHS waiting lists, just south of 8 million, looking at ...mental health

“The language that we use… even in the question ‘Do we have a sick note culture?’ It’s cruel”

Chair of the NHS Confederation Victor Adebowale says the use of “performative” language needs to stop, and the government should show more "compassion"
